The Artist
Xavier Swolfs is one of the most prominent figures in the Belgian watercolour scene. Born in Belgium in 1942, he honed his skills at the Antwerp Academy of Fine Arts. Following a career in illustration and advertising, along with establishing his own communications agency, he made the pivotal decision to dedicate himself entirely to watercolour painting at the age of 35. He is a co-founder of the Institut d’Aquarelle Belge (AIB), known in English as the Belgian Watercolour Institute and the European Confederation of Watercolour Societies. Swolfs is highly sought after for his workshops, which he regularly conducts in Belgium, France, and beyond.
