But what kind of Paris are we talking about?
Whether it's a city you fantasize about, a city you hate, a city you live in every day, or a city you've never been to, Paris is many things, and inspires an undeniable feeling or image at the mere mention of its name. Idealized and dreamt of in numerous films and series, such as Emily in Paris, or on social networks, the City of Lights is prone to clichés that are often disconnected from reality. How about this book of photographs to remedy that?
(Re)discover the city from every angle
The “Instantanés” collection is back! After Marseille, Bordeaux and La Ciotot, it's Paris' turn to be photographed! No more staged scenes, but rather the instantaneity and spontaneity of social networks, as the City of Light takes center stage in a unique, composite picture that ensures its (re)discovery. In this bilingual French-English publication, you'll find 250 never-before-seen, surprising, clichéd or totally offbeat, but always vivid photographs of the city's colors, streets, squares and most beautiful monuments, taken by 100 professional and amateur photographers.
The authors: Clara de Brunier and Marie-Athénaïs Hénin
A lifelong Parisian, Clara de Brunier has fallen under the spell of the city's effervescent lifestyle. In charge of communications and social networks for major houses, she has been working for 15 years in the world of art book publishing. More than a profession, she has a real passion for art and photography, and loves to set off in search of images that tell stories, that capture the ephemeral to make it timeless, almost universal, and that ultimately translate the palette of human emotions. Marie-Athénaïs has been writing for ten years. In her portraits of celebrities and strangers alike, she reveals the hidden facets of each person to highlight their singularities. This book is her first portrait of a city: Paris. In the same way, she wanted to avoid caricature, so she had to get away from clichés and scrutinize its passers-by, succumb to its curves, apprehend its lights. To marvel, to spy, to roam its cobblestones and seek out its peculiarities. Like the readers of this book, Marie-Athénaïs Hénin set out to rediscover the city she grew up in, and to take a fresh look at it.
